Absence
Oil on wood · 27 × 19 cm · 2026
A moment of introspection and distance from the world, of a humanity oscillating between realism and idealism.
A study of pictorial matter as much as of the soul.
The endless search for what creates the relationship between the wonders and horrors of this incomprehensible world.
The hidden meaning and unity behind the interplay of brushstrokes and colours reflect the thought buried beyond the tangled hair and the distant gaze.

Blue evening
Oil on canvas · 92 × 73 cm · 2023
Just before leaving, the memory of Bronzino's brush caressing Lucrezia's hand still lingers, confirming the setting sun for me.

Hommage à Odd Nerdrum (Selfportrait)
Oil on canvas · 116 x 89 cm · 2010
In this self-portrait, tears of sadness can be seen running down the cheek.
I become aware of the “Fatum” that causes each and every one of us to kill our prophets before being consumed by remorse.
The famous Norwegian painter Odd Nerdrum, who describes himself as a “Prophet of Painting”, suffered this fate in his own country, where he was even forbidden to teach at the fine arts school.
There is also a reference to the myth of Medusa, the prophetess, whose blood flowing from her right side comes to inspire my sword, my soul. And, of course, also to Caravaggio.

Nebris
Oil on canvas · 65 x 54 cm · 2026
“Can you hear the sounds of life in the murmur of the stream, in the breath of the wind?
I do not need to ask where to go; the reindeer know the way…”

Chevalier d'Eon
Oil on canvas · 92 x 73 cm · 2019
Private collection.
Le Chevalier d’Éon was known for his courage, intelligence and mastery of the fine art of fencing.
What I wanted to represent above all is the androgynous side that made his reputation throughout his adventurous life, and which has endured through the centuries.
For this theme, I wanted to continue the tradition of elegant portraits of men wearing gloves, in the manner of Van Dyck or Titian.

Jesus
Oil on canvas · 92 x 73 cm · 2022
Private collection.
Corsaire Cupidon
Oil on canvas · 90 x 60 cm · 2006
Angel or demon?
My Cupid does not care in the slightest.
There are beings whose gaze is like arrows that pierce.

Mon idéal, à la mort
Oil on canvas · 2004
Private collection.
The idealist inspires me.
Love guides him.
His capacity for indignation can lead him to sacrifice his life.
By contrast, the ideologue follows abstract ideas. For them, he is capable of genocides and massacres. He is sordid and nauseating, and inspires nothing in me but disgust!
The ideologue follows his master, while the idealist recognises his Lord.

Autoportrait
au masque de beauté
Oil on canvas · 50 x 60 cm · 2006
When President Armand Fallières was asked,
“Why don’t you write your memoirs?”
he replied: “Because I have nothing to hide…”
A self-portrait, like an autobiography, is in a way a beauty mask: it veils or disguises as much as it reveals.
I also wanted to play on the polarity between the meaning of the word “beautiful” and the ugliness of the image.
It is up to the viewer, the reader, to discern what, beyond the artifice of representation, this mask conceals that is authentic and sincere.
