About Alexandre Barbera-Ivanoff

Alexandre Barbera-Ivanoff is a French figurative painter, born in Paris in 1973.

His work draws on the great traditions of European painting, with particular affinities for Italian Mannerism, Spanish Baroque and Chinese dragons.

He began studying painting at the age of twelve, working in private studios with Christian Welter, Gérard Di-Maccio and Jean Bertholle.

His practice combines figurative painting with a strong symbolic and historical dimension, exploring the relationships between light and darkness, the visible and the invisible, and the harmony of opposites.

For Alexandre, painting is a universal language capable of revealing the invisible connections that give deeper meaning and unity to reality. Beauty, symbolism and the elevation of the viewer are central to his approach.

A career between painting
and monumental projects

His practice extends from easel painting and portraiture to murals, monumental works and site-specific commissions.

In 2001, he created murals and decorative paintings for the Royal Palace of King Mohammed VI in Marrakech. His work was presented at the European Parliament in Strasbourg in 2010 and at the Villa Aurélienne in Fréjus in 2017. In 2015, he created five monumental panels depicting the Angevin period in the history of Cosenza, Italy, as part of the city's permanent Historical Museum in the Open.
